My therapy is pastel paintings -- portraits (people and pets), landscapes, Blue Ridge scenery mostly from Floyd and Franklin County, Virginia areas and south on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

A few years ago I would have said I was a pencil artist, but now, now.....I may say that I am a novice pastelist!  I've finally ventured into the painting arena - first it was acrylics (I've always done things the hard way) -- but now -- pastels.
I used pastels (I called them 'chalk' back then) years ago and loved them -- however I really knew nothing about them.  I revisited this medium about 3 years ago and fell in love with them.  The learning curve was challenging but through books, videos, and online art groups guiding me I have managed to become very comfortable with pastels.
I work from reference photos, and am enjoying the thrill of creating landscapes of areas I love.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my work.   My latest is "Sisters":
